THE BRIEF!
Have you always wanted to do third molar surgery but you just don’t know where to start?
Ever started a case and regretted it almost immediately?
Do you want to know the real world, practical strategies to evaluate case difficulties?
When do you really need a CBCT?
How to pick the right cases when you are starting this journey?
Third molar surgery can be complex. It is often seen as unpredictable, difficult and stressful.
Whilst it certainly can be those things, the real “secret” is to not put ourselves in these circumstances in the first place. Assessing the difficulty of third molars (and non-third molars) can be very systematic and simple.
This one-day intensive will provide you with the confidence to REALLY know how to evaluate third molars. Stripping it down to real-world, clinically relevant points that simplifies your decision making skills.
For the cases you will be tackling, you will learn how to determine your back up plans, understand surgical planning, and know how to manage your patient from start to finish, and not just the extraction process.
Please note: There is no hands-on practical component to this day
Goals for the day:
Assessment, assessment & assessment; Pick the right cases to increase your confidence
OPG V CBCT; When and how to read it. ITS MORE THAN JUST THE NERVE!
Surgical planning; The most important part. Develop and have a plan, so you don’t get stressed half way through.
Armamentarium; Why and how to use it properly
Flap design; Is there a better way?
Bone gutter; remove bone in the right places and know how much to remove
Sectioning; the hardest part to get right. But there’s a strategy to ensure you don’t put yourself 2 steps back
